MS.02 is a centrally timetabled lecture theatre located in the Zeeman Building. With a capacity of 370,[1] it is the largest room, and hence the largest lecture theatre, in the building. It is located on The Street in the public part of the building, and is centrally timetabled all year round.

It is primarily used by maths lectures, but lectures from other departments, particuarly other departments in the Faculty of SEM, also occur in it.[citation needed]

Location

MS.02 is located on the ground and first floors of the Zeeman Building, accessible from the publically accessible part of the building known as The Street. This means that it can be accessed by anyone during the building's opening hours.

The room has three entrances, two on the ground floor and one on the first floor. To reach the first, upon entering the Zeeman Building, walk towards the wall with the coloured lines. Before reaching it, enter the door to the right. To reach the second, continue walking past this wall and enter the door to the right. Then, turn right again and enter the door straight ahead. To reach the third, upon entering the building, go up the staircase that follows the right-hand wall. Upon reaching the first floor, turn right and go to the end of that corridor. Then, enter the door to the left.

Nearby facilities

Toilets

The nearest toilets are a pair of male and female gendered toilets, accessible from a coridor off The Street. From the left-hand ground floor exit, turn immediately left and walk to the end of the corridor. From the first floor exit, walk down the nearby staircase. The female toilets are to the left and the male toilets are to the right.

The nearest accessible toilets are also located off the Street. From any exit, make as if to leave the building. Then, before reaching the main doors, turn left. There will be a door on the wall to your right, just past the lift. Walk through this (it is button operated) and, in the small connecting space, there is an accessible toilet to the left.

The nearest non-accessible gender neutral toilets are located on the second floor on the balcony on the wall with the main entrance to the building. Proceed up either the main staircase in the Street and arround the edge of the building, or proceed as if going to the accessible toilets but proceed through the connecting space and up the stairs. Next to the lift, there is a female toilet and a single gender neutral toilet.

Water fountains

The nearest water fountain to MS.02 is located on the ground floor of the Street next to the Zeeman Building reception, A0.04. This is located to the right of the main entrance to the building.

Vending machines

The nearest vending machines are on the side of the corridor containing the nearest toilets that does not have the staircase. There is also a coffee vending machine.

Notable uses

MS.02 is frequently used for maths lectures, particuarly for first and second years who have many lectures with the entire cohort that require MS.02's capacity.
