A0.05 is a room in the Zeeman Building. Home to the mathematics Undergraduate Workroom, often shortened to UG Workroom and labelled as "Undergraduate Work Room" on the campus map,[1] it can be found on the ground floor of the building, accessible from The Street or from underneath the main stairs to the first floor.
The room provides space for undergraduate mathematics students to study and socialise and, as such, student keycard access is provided only to maths students.
Notably, the room contains Supervision Areas 1 through 4, each receiving a table and a chalkboard.
Location
A0.05 is located on the ground floor of the Zeeman Building, accessible either from The Street from the public portion of the building, or from below the main staircase to the first floor from within the keycarded portion of the building.
To reach the entrance off The Street, enter the building through the main entrance and walk forwards to the pigeon holes. The door is on the left. It requires a keycard and is not automatic.
To reach the other entrance, which is also the accessible entrance, enter the building through the main entrance and turn left. Walk towards the automatic double doors and scan your keycard. Proceed through and turn right. Proceed forwards to find the door on the right underneath the staircase. It requires a keycard and is automatic.
Nearby facilities
Toilets
- See also: Toilets in the Zeeman Building
Depending on your position within the workroom, the closest toilets vary.
If sat closest to the exit into The Street, then the nearest toilets will be the gendered male and female toilets located across The Street and at the end of the corridoor between MS.01 and MS.02. These will also be the closest gendered toilets regardless of location.
If sat closest to the other exit, there are two possible choices for the closest toilet, each gender neutral and roughly equal distance from the workroom. Either exit and go down the corridor opposite but slightly to the right of the exit and turn right to find a pair of toilets and showers on your right, or exit and turn immediately right to go down a corridor, turning left at the end to find a pair of toilets on your left. These will also be the closest non-accessible gender neutral toilets regardless of location.
The closest accessible toilets can be found by exiting into The Street and going towards the lift by the entrance to the building. Proceed slightly to the left of the lift and through a button-operated door to find the toilets on your left.
Water fountains
- See also: Water fountains in the Zeeman Building
To reach the closest water fountain, exit into The Street and turn right. Walk past the pigeonholes and turn right again to find the water fountain straight ahead.
Vending machines
- See also: Vending machines in the Zeeman Building
The closest vending machines can be reached by exiting into The Street and walking directly across into the corridor between MS.01 and MS.02. The vending machines are in this corridoor to the right.
Notable uses
The Undergraduate Workroom is primarily used as as study space for undergraduate maths students, but it is also used for some socialising.
Many Warwick Maths Society events take place in this room, including the weekly Maths Café academic support event,[2] and The Integrating Factor Christmas party.[3]
